How did the greeks win the war against the persians?

Greek soldiers started training at a very young age and were all very good fighters and extremely fit. The greatest example of this is that after the Greeksdefeated the Persians in the battle of Marathon, the Persians decided to attack Athens, since the vast majority of it's forces was in Marathon.
