the walls of a square room need painting.Each of the four walls is 12 ft wide by 8.5 feet tall.One gallon of paint covers 75 ft.How many gallons will you need?

First find the area of each wall. This is length*width which would be 12*8.5=102. There are four walls in the room because it’s a square so that would be 102*4=408. So the total area you need to paint is 408ft one gallon will cover 75ft so 408/75=5.44 gallons of paint.

If it is 12ft wide and 8 feet 5 inches tall it would be 101 sqft per wall.
101 x 4 = 404
75 x 6 = 450
So it would be 6 gallons of paint.
If it is 8 1/2 feet it would be the same amount of paint.
102 x 4 = 408
75 x 6 = 450
So 6 gallons of paint.
