Since you want to know what the 5th term, you substitute 5 for n and solve:
f(n) = 5n-2
5n - 5
5(5) - 5
25 - 5
f(n) = 5

Literally just plug in 5 for f(n) to get f(5)=5*5-2=25-2=23
