In one study (Seal et al., 2007) of 103,788 veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, 25 percent were diagnosed with a psychological disorder, in which the most frequent diagnosis was posttraumatic stress disorder. Veterans seen at VA health care facilities, 25 658 (25%) received mental health diagnosis(es); 56% of whom had 2 or more distinct mental health diagnoses.
