Similar - both start with glycolysis
both make ATP without using the electron transport chain
Both end products were reduced by NADH

Differences - pyrvate produced in alcohol fermentation releases CO2 and turns into acetaldehyde which then is reduced by NADH to ethanl

In lactic acid fermentation, the pyruvate is directly reduced by NADH to lactate. There is no CO2 release.
