Internal slave trade became a massive business during the 1980s due to the fact that importation of slaves became illegal. Internal slave trade involved moving vast number of slaves from states such as Georgia, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, North Carolina and District of California to states located in the South of the country.
