How is the rate of change in a real-world linear relationship related to the slope-intercept form of the equation that represents the relationship?

The rate of change is the slope, the coefficient of the independent variable divided by the coefficient of the dependent variable. When the coefficient of the dependent variable (usually represented by y) is 1, the slope is just the coefficient of the independent variable (usually represented by x).
