The answer to this question would be: Mechanical ventilation with PEEP will help prevent alveolar collapse and improve oxygenation.
acute respiratory distress syndrome is an emergency condition that can result in the patient stop breathing. The healthcare provider should prepare to do intubation and mechanical ventilation since the patient can stop breathing anytime. Mechanical ventilation can help maintain the patient breathing until the underlying cause of the ARDS is treated.
