The beginning of the middle ages, the divisions of the area of the empire into separate kingdoms, the fights of the Romans of the East against the Vandals in Africa, the Visigoths in Spain and the Ostrogoths in Italy, the Lombard invasion of Italy. Eventually it lead to the Carolingian Empire and the rise of feudalism.
