Currently only about 10% of energy in the United States comes from the alternative energy sources. The remaining energy comes from nonrenewable energy sources like coal, oil and natural gas. Why do you think this might be?

I think that only about 10% of USenergy comesfrom renewable resources because of the strong lobby of the big multinational companies to push for their coal and oil sources and now because Donald Trump appears only to listen to them and ignore the Paris Accords and keep his head hidden in the sand about climate change.
