At a macro level, two structures that give plant cells their shape are the cell wall and the large central vacuole. These two are not present in the animal cell. Due to its rigidity, the cell wall which is located outside the plant cell membrane gives the cell its rigid structure while the vacuole maintains a high osmotic pressure inside the plant cell hence giving the cell its turgidity.
