Railroads displaced older forms of transportation because it was a much more efficient and faster way of travel that could carry a lot of people and cargo, going farther than any animal.

The Internet displaced older forms of communication, because the internet moved fast allowing people to talk without facing each other giving people access to millions of resources and information that is found all around the world

Railroads displaced older forms of transportation because it was much more efficient, it was faster, & it could carry a lot more, and go farther than most animals. (that time there were no well-functioning cars).

Internet displaced communication, because it was faster (well sometimes), and allowed you to access a lot more at once. The internet allowed people to talk without facing each other (or having to physically go to a phone or anything else) & gave people access to millions of resources and information that is found all around the world
