The nurse should include in teaching plan the physiologic effect of a spontaneous pneumothorax, air will move from the lung into the pleural space. In addition primary spontaneous pneumothorax is likely due to the formation of small sacs of air (blebs) in lung tissue that rupture, causing air to leak into the pleural space.
