The residents of Buenos Aires had pride as they had defeated the imperial power of Britain. They were also frustrated with the Spanish and having to be under their rule. A nationalist sentiment grew as did an independence movement in South America. As this movement grew, a man named Simon Bolivar led a group of creoles in the rebellion against the Spanish.
