Starting at sea level, a submarine descended at a constant rate to a depth of −56 mile relative to sea level in 4 minutes. What was the submarine's depth relative to sea level after the first minute? Enter your answer in the box as a fraction in simplest form.

Hello,

Okay, So to get to your answer, -56 in 4 minutes. And it wants to know how much in the first minute. So what I would do is to divide -54 by 4. And your answer would be -14.

divide total depth by time:

-56 /4 =14

so it is diving at 14 miles per minute

so after the first minute it was at -14 miles
