An object at rest on a flat, horizontal surface explodes into two fragments, one seven times as massive as the other. the heavier fragment slides 5.50 m before stopping. how far does the lighter fragment slide?

Answer: conserve momentum: m*v = 7m*V so v = 7V you can calculate the KE of each piece, eg larger piece KE = ½*7m*V² and that's equal to the friction work = µ*7m*g*8.30 mass cancels again
