The answer is A: it is essential for clear written communication.

Syntax is basically the structure of language. In written communication, though also, evidently, in oral communication, each element in a sentence has a place and according to its place, each element comes to mean what it does. In other words, syntax is the set of rules that all languages follow in order to secure meaning, therefore, it is absolutely essential for written communication.
