Real Simple,

A Boat traveled 112 miles downstream and back. The trip downstream took 4 hours. The trip back took 8 hours. What is the speed of the boat in still water? What is the speed of the current?

First of all, you must find out how many miles it takes to go 4 hours and 8 hours.

112 ÷ 4 = 28 miles per hour

112 ÷ 8 = 14 miles per hour

So, going downstream will take 28 miles per hour and going in still water will take 14 miles per hour.
