What was the age of pericles, and how did it involve direct democracy?

The golden age of Anthenian culture was said to be during the reign of Pericles. He was known as a great leader and played a huge role in ending the Peloponnesian War. Under his rule, Athen’s government made use of a direct democracy. He believed that every citizen must take part in daily affairs in the government.
