It takes Miranda 0.5 hours to drive to work in the morning but it takes her 0.75 hours to drive home from work in the evening. Which equation best represents this information if she drives to work at a rate of r miles per hour and drives home at a rate of v miles per hour?

The distance Miranda drives between home and work is fixed, regardless of the direction of travel. Let's call this distance "d."

Then d = (0.5 hour)(r mph) = 0.5r miles.

But d also equals (0.75 hour)(v mph) = 0.75v miles

We cannot actually solve for r and v without more info; that info would be the actual distance traveled (as a number).
