Joliet and the "the rock" were examples of maximum security prisons, one of them based in Joliet, Illinois from 1858 and 2002, and the other known as "Alcatraz" on alcatraz island, state of California, called by the residends and neighbors "the rock", a military prison at first, then a federal prison and today a national park.
