G2 phase is the final sub-phase of interphase of the cell cycle. G2 phase ends with the onset of prophase, it is the phase in which cell chromatin condense and coil up in order to form chromosomes.

It allows DNA to wrap more tightly and take less space inside the cell. The DNA condense further by the histone protein, it helps in the formation of tightly wrapped and condensed set of chromosomes.
