In the novel, "Hunger of Memory", Richard Rodriguez's journey in education is chronicled. Throughout this journey, he did not meet everyone with support, in that while he was doing his best others did not appreciate his appeared upward movement. As a result of this, Rodriguez's relationship with his parents was negatively affected by his education, and caused a separation as a result.
