How did axum's decline affect trade in east africa?

When Islam began spreading across North Africa in the 600s Axum became isolated and lost power. This, combined with Civil war and economic decline, finally weakened Axum. New trade brought upon by new Muslim community establishments started to make other cities wealthy.
