Three new playwrights of the twentieth century were the last three here - "Eugene O'Neil, Maxwell Anderson, and Elmer Rice." Harriet Beecher Stowe didn't write plays and lived during the 19th century, and George I. Aiken was a playwright indeed, but during the 19th century as well. These three men wrote many plays during their lives, and won many awards for them.
