During the Zhou, the use of iron was introduced to China. China's first projects of hydraulic engineering were founded during the Zhou Dynasty, ultimately for means to aid agricultural irrigation. They dammed a river to create an enormous irrigation reservoir in modern-day northern Anhui province and introduced the first channels to water the fields.
