Agriculture has played a large part in Uruguay's economy. With the exports of beef and wool that have been their go-to over the past decades, the country has been able to stay competitive. However, since there are countries that are now competitive in the wool arena, Uruguay has switched to timber as a backup industry that is beginning to experience growth.
