Red mites or chiggers spread orientia tsutsugamushi among both humans and rodents. The orientia tsutsugamushi from the japanese tsutsuga which means illness and mushi means insect is the causative creature of scrub typhus and the natural vector and reservoir is perhaps trombiculid mites or as called as genus leptotrombidium.
