The tension and disagreement between colonists and British officials become outright resistance and rebellion by 1776 by the following reason;
- Patriots are advised that existing royal court to be close and political allegiance should be transferred in which those people who had given this advice is the 150 delegates to the extralegal Middlesex country congress
- The British authority has been defied by the Massachusetts
- The maintenance of imperial power is being tried by General Thomas in which he orders his troops to seize patriot armories
