Due to the fact that this is a 45,45,90 triangle y would be the same as leg one making it 6. A 45,45,90 triangles hypotenuse is always the value of x times the square root of two. so 6 times the square root of two is 8.48. so the value of y=6 and the value of x= 8.48.Hope it helps.

since the known angle is 45 degrees both the height and the base are equal

so y = 6


the hypotenuse (x) on a 45 degree triangle = the side time sqrt(2)

so x = 6sqrt(2)
