Peripheral Chemoreceptors that are sensitive to changes in plasma carbon dioxide and oxygen levels are located in the aortic arch and carotid arteries. In which, Carotid are known to be the main oxygen sensors. The artery will drop before the oxygen level develops into a major stimulus in order to upsurge ventilation.
