Its called the black death mainly because when you have the disease you woulds start to have large oozing black boils. it was mainly spread by small bugs who lived on rats, people, and other animals. these animals often ended up on boats who would travel to locations, when the animals got off the bugs with the disease would spread.

The plague was called the Black Death, because parts of the body like the fingers and toes turned black. Common symptoms were buboes. The black plague was spread through insects, rats, and humans.
