In Countee Cullen’s poem, “Any Human to Another”, the poet uses imagery to communicate his theme of universal sorrow. When reading the poem you will recognize emotional and reflective tone that is being developed through author's way of describing sorrowful thoughts, events and actions. In these lines he shows how the main human problem affects him, and in these stanza he shows it through action :

Like an arrow,
Pierce to the marrow,
Through the fat
And past the bone..
This is a nice example of imagery that used to represent obects by showing how it appeals to our physical senses.
