-6(x - 5) > 42

Simplify.

-6x + 30 > 42

We are simply just trying to get x by itself.

So, subtract 30 from both sides.

-6x > 42 - 30

Simplify.

-6x > 12

Then, divide both sides by -6.

Remember! : When dividing by a negative number, you must switch the signs. So, > → < and < → > :))

-6x ÷ -6 > 12 ÷ -6

Simplify.

x < -2
