Which branch can approve new members to the Supreme Court

Members of the Supreme Court, called justices, serve life sentences once they are appointed. In order for a justice to be appointed, the President nominates, or recommends, a person for the job. However, in order for a person to officially take the job, the person must be approved by the legislative branch.
