When several factors affect some physical quantity, what is the general strategy that you would use to determine how each factor affects that quantity?

When several factors affect some physical quantity, I would apply one factor only then record how the physical quantity is affected. Then, I would take away that factor and apply a different one. By only applying one factor at a time, it is easier to determine which factor is causing which effect.
