Deception is one of the key themes in Othello, written by William Shakespeare. From the very beginning of the play, Iago deceives Othello and reveals his true intentions to the audience, but never to Othello. Cassio, another key character, is having an affair with Desdemona in an attempt to gain a position with the Moor.
