Hijra are people who were determined to be of male sex at birth, but do not fit in to traditional classifications of gender or sexual orientation. Some governments in South Asia officialy recognize hijra as a "third gender", neither man nor woman, and give them rights in law. These nations include Nepal, Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh.
