What impact did the War of 1812 have on American nationalism (national identity)?

This war had an impact on both the US and the UK as they fought for victory as nobody was victorious in the end. American nationalism did decrease as no separation occurred whatsoever.

Although the conflict was indecisive, it boosted American nationalism because the American army and navy proved they could stand up to the most powerful country in Europe.
