The democratic changes had a greater impact on political philosophy and interpretation. Jackson's followers were antagonized by Adams as well as those who were specifically against Jackson. This gave rise to a new political group, the Whigs. Jackson's political policies were called the Jacksonian Democracy, which ended the government monopoly.
