The forced resettlement of thousands of Native Americans was known as Indian Removal Act of 1830. The law, which was signed by President Andrew Jackson, and it signed in order to negotiate with southern Indian tribes for their removal to the western regions of the Mississippi River in exchange for the lands of theirs. Even though there were lots of supporters from the non-Indian peoples of the South, there was a huge resistance from the Indian tribes.
