Free-look provisions, as they are normally known, permit you to inspect an insurance policy after you've purchased it. If you don't like what you perceive, you can return it for a whole refund — as if you not ever purchased the insurance. These policies you can do this with differ by state, as does the total of time you have to pull out. In case of South Carolina, the length of time to return an individual life policy is 10 days and if sent by mail, it would be 30 days.
