Barium oxide is a white, hygroscopic non-flammable compound. It also takes on the form of a cubic structure and is used in cathode ray tubes, crown glass, and catalysts.

It's known to be very harmful to human skin and if swallowed in large quantities it causes irritation. Excessive quantities of barium oxide can and most likely will lead to death.
