Can somebody show me how to solve this:

42 + 8x + 13 = 7

42 + 8x + 13 = 7

8x + 55 = 7

8x = 7 - 55 subtract both sides by 55

8x = -48

x = -48/8 divide both sides by 8

x = - 6
