Preoptic area (POA) is the region of anterior hypothalamus (AH), so it is referred as POA/AH. POA/AH is the hypothalamic brain area critical for temperature regulation.
The evidence that support the fact that the preoptic area controls our body temperature is that the direct cooling or heating of the POA/AH leads to shivering or sweating.
