Where do organic compounds such as glucose store energy

Most general education classes teach that energy is stored in chemical bonds. If this is for a homework that's what you'd write.

This is somewhat true. Energy is actually released when the net chemical reaction that produces new, more stable bonds are formed to replace the old less stable starting materials.
