Compare the use of coal to the use of petroleum from 1800 to 2004.

The use of coal has steadily increased from 1800 to 2004. Burning coal was the leading cause of global fossil carbon emissions. Petroleum use rose quickly after 1950.

The use of coal increased during this time period as there was more and more industries and factories setup at time.

The use of coal increased and thus global warming. Burning of coal was the leading cause of global warming because it releases more and more carbon dioxide which is a major green house gas.

Petroleum use rose after 1950 due to mechanization. More number of vehicles were on road and that is the reason petroleum use rose up during that time.
