How does the human body maintain itself during exercise ?

This is not history, but here is the answer.

The human body will convert food into energy during exercise, it produces heat as a waste product. The extra heat the body is creating can elevate the body temperature above it's normal temperature (98.6 degrees). To maintain homeostasis, the blood vessels in the skin will dilate to allow more blood flow to the surface of the body where it disperses the heat.
