The maximum rate of DNA replication in E coli is 1000 NUCLEOTIDE PER SECOND.
DNA replication is the process by which living cells produce two identical DNA from one original DNA molecule. The process occur in all living cells and its the basis of inheritance. In E coli, DNA replication starts from a single point of origin and proceeds in two different directions and new nucleotides are added to the replicating fork at the rate of 1000 nucleotides per second.
