The styles that helped to stimulate the beginnings of jazz were blues, gospel, and ragtime.
All of these styles were instrumental when it came to the creation of jazz music. Jazz was influenced by all of these styles and genres of music, which is rather obvious if you take a look at the instruments used, the type of melody, the way the singer sings, the general atmosphere, etc.
